determination of efficiency types of borujerd sugar beet growers using data envelopment analysis (dea)

this study aimed at determining the efficiency of sugar beet growers in borujerd city, iran. data were collected from 2010-11 growing season by random sampling of sugar beet growers and filling 100 questionnaires and analyzed using data envelopment analysis (dea) method. results showed that the average technical, economical and special efficiencies were 0.83, 0.79, and 0.84 in fixed output state compared with the scale, respectively and 0.88, 0.78, and 0.83 in variable output state, respectively. according to the results, by performing technical and economic efficiency improvement programs for farmers, production and interest can be augmented without any change in technological levels and resources applied. also, holding training courses can be effective for the improvement of farmers’ management levels.
